Charmaine Sweets uses only the best seasonal ingredients avoiding fillers and artificial flavours. European style butter, fresh nuts and premium Lindt dark chocolate make up the pantry of our kitchen. Stop by for a baked treat or order your sweets ahead of time and pick them up in store. Fresh breads baked daily and sandwiches are made to order with hot coffee just around the corner.


 
 

Meet our head baker and chef instructor

Teresa Ho, owner, teacher, and mother of Charmaine Sweets bakes each treat with the same care and attention she does for her family and friends. The name Charmaine comes from Teresa’s eldest daughter, who is also a trained pastry chef.

With her knowledge and study of french techniques and mastering the classics like Napoleons and choux pastry, Teresa quickly became known for her light and airy chiffon cakes topped with lightly sweetened whipped cream and fresh fruit. Cake boxes began flying out the door! For some, eating the delicious sweets wasn’t enough, so Teresa began teaching affordable baking classes in her own home.

With increasing popularity, Teresa has now expanded into a newly renovated kitchen studio space in Leaside, increasing the access to affordable, technique driven hands-on baking classes for all. Class sizes are never too big, allowing for more one-on-one interactive learning. Come join one of her drop-in classes to experience the homey, family-like hospitality that Teresa is known for!
